lazybeardParticipantIt just dawned on me that the Lost season (5) finale is next week, cranking in at two-hours!
I was curious if anyone does the whole viewing party thing for any shows, or Lost.

AdamOnAlkiParticipantHa! Great idea. I tried getting a similar thing going on here about a year ago (yes, I HAVE been here for that long. It was quiet for awhile after my move) to mixed/minimal results.

EmmyJaneParticipantstrange, i just read this idea in People magazine for a Lost season finale viewing party… since this is such a unique idea I know you couldn’t have come up with it on your own, I must conclude you read yourself a lot of People, eh lazybeard? Keeping up on LiLo shananigans? :-)

lazybeardParticipanthah, no, actually I always recall people with their Survivor viewing parties (I never watched it), but I think the original idea came from The Truman Show, where they would have viewing parties.
Is LiLo Luigi? I’ve met him once or twice, along with ToddinWestwood. I took this photo..

lazybeardParticipantI always vege out the first week the DVDs come out and watch it in about a week. During the season I’ll watch an episode at least twice to pick up on the little details too.

EmmyJaneParticipantwe watched seasons 1-3, and now starting on 4, over about a 3 month period. It really helps to sit down and watch all the episodes together to understand the story lines and catch what’s going on. they’ll leave certain story lines for a couple episodes so instead of waiting almost a month in real life to see it and try to remember what’s going on, we see it three hours later. watching each episode twice is a good idea too.

SueParticipantI don’t think I could attend a Lost viewing party, because if someone talked over something, I’d have to kill them. :) It’s hard enough with just my husband there!

WSMomParticipantSue you made me laugh out loud! Lost is a family event at our house, but sometimes I want to kick my kids out of the room…what with arguing over who get’s to hold the popcorn bowl or is hogging the couch, or wrestling the remote away from my 15 year old who likes to channel surf during commercials…I could go crazy.
EmmyJane, we own every season as well (the only tv show dvd’s we own besides The Simpsons). This winter we were rewatching the series from the beginning, it’s like a jigsaw puzzle we can’t walk away from!
I must admit that I also read several Lost blogs (I know, kinda insane). If you’re interested in some links I’d be happy to share! The blogs really add to my understanding and deepens my appreciation for the amazing writers and producers of this show.

SueParticipantWSMom, I won’t even let my husband speak when there’s no dialogue (since you can get so much just from watching what’s happening), and that makes him crazy! :)

KeithMemberI got that email, also. The line about the “way it was meant to be seen: on the big screen” cracks me up – LOST is great, but it’s still a TV show, not a movie!
In any case, I’m with Sue: I don’t want to hear other people chit-chatting when I’m watch LOST. Plus, at home I’ve got Tivo – essential for skipping commercials and reviewing bombshell scenes.
