Lincoln Park Chapel?

Whilst frolicking in the park yesterday evening with the Tall Dude(tm) we happened upon a sandwich board advertising a chapel with an arrow pointed directly into the trees. A little while later we saw what looked like a small church service or bible study group… Just out of curiosity, does anyone know anything about this? I’m not particularly religious myself, but I quite like the idea of worshipping among the trees rather than inside, especially on a gorgeous summer day.

I know, right? For some reason it makes more sense to me. I mean, I know it isn’t practical to always be outside in Seattle, but being in nature makes me feel more connected to things like that.

Various earth-based religious groups have been using Lincoln Park for their observances for years. They usually don’t advertise them, though. There used to be a Druid group that met once a month at one of the beach picnic shelters, but I don’t know if they still do.

The title of this thread reminded me…a number of years ago someone built a little driftwood house at Lincoln Park, just south of Colman Pool, and it became an impromptu interfaith shrine. There were all kinds of beautiful things in it–origami cranes, ornaments, figurines, candles, pictures of lost loved ones, strings of beads, etc. It was a really lovely thing while it lasted. I don’t know if it was eventually torn down by parks staff or someone else. I was wondering, when I read the thread title, if maybe a new one had been put up.
