Andre painted our house last summer. The price was right and he did great work-we were really pleased with him. He said he’s painted over 30 houses in West Seattle. He can even take you on a “tour” of the houses he’s painted if you’re having a hard time picking a color. He was recommended to us by another West Seattlite. His website is artisanwaypainting.com

I always love a good referral, but was concerned their website had no mention of being licensed, bonded or insured. I checked https://fortress.wa.gov/lni/bbip/ to see if they were a registered contractor and nothing came up.

Always something to keep in mind when hiring a construction tradesperson. Especially in this economy where we are all trying to save a buck.

And almost as important, get your estimate in writing, and never feel pressured to pay anything upfront. Most contractors have accounts set-up with suppliers, so only on the rare occasion will you have to pay for materials up front.

I am interested to find out whether Artisan is licensed, as I have seen his work and could use a new painter.
