JackalkiMemberThere’s a high frequency ringing at 61st and Alki Ave. by the Alki Homestead. Like a dog whistle for humans. For real, check it out. It’s been going on a few weeks. You can really hear it at night when there’s less activity. Any ideas what it can be or what can be done to identify it and stop it?
6 witnesses that its going on. Please help stop the ringing. Lol. It really does annoy. Help?!

2 Much WhineParticipantI have found that a tinfoil hat with a couple clothes hangers sticking out works very well for eliminating the noises and makes it more difficult for the government to perform brain mapping.
.
Is it OK to leave an attempt at humor and levity as-is or is it necessary for me to note that the comment I made above is not an insult to the OP or to mental health or to the CIA brain mapping organization or the Trilateral Commission? Just checking because I do not want to be thought of as a troll. It would be really funny to see a bunch of folks in tinfoil hats around The Homestead.

JoBParticipantjackalki..
annoying. i hope when the noise is found it can be eliminated
2 much whine
yesterday i bought a winter hat for a friend who works outside.. it has a metallic lining to reflect heat back ….
i have a coat like that, but i have never noticed that it blocks noise…
it makes sense that it would.
i wonder if it blocks RFID?
if it did.. i would gladly wear a tin foil hat..
i can’t say the one i found yesterday is cute
but it is practical

PatrickKeymasterSome one called and I went down around noon today. The high pitched noise is most noticeable if you stand directly across the street from the hair salon behind Fat Burger. It seems to be coming from either the hot water tank on Fat Burger’s exterior or the venting on the second floor.

WSBKeymasterI wasn’t with him on the investigative trip so I can’t speak to it firsthand. But please note that if you can’t get to the root of it, you can report it to the city’s noise enforcement person – we went through all that during the “hum” a year-plus ago and you should be able to pull up that info in a search (if not, e-mail me and I’ll dredge up the contact info for you) – TR

JoBParticipantgeez.. does Patrick’s sighting (hearing) mean we have to stop joking about tinfoil hats now?
November 16, 2013 at 6:04 pm #800172
anonymeParticipantBTW, the “hum” continues, although I wonder if it’s related to Bertha rather than the docks…?

miwsParticipantYou know, with all of the discussions, research, and speculation here on WSB over the years, regarding the source of the hum, I don’t recall this bit of speculation being considered……
November 17, 2013 at 4:15 am #800175
celeste17Participantmaybe its noise being carried from Kitty Harbor on Harbor Ave? It really carries!

miwsParticipantThat’s what I was thinking when I posted the pic, Celeste. ;-)
I had just seen funkietoo’s posting about KH.

JoBParticipantthe whine didn’t seem to disrupt diners at Fat Burger last night.. it was full of happy people at the dinner hour.
November 17, 2013 at 5:41 pm #800178
miwsParticipantThat’s good.
Having too much whine would certainly have made things rather unpleasant.
Now, certainly, having 2 Much Whine there would have added pleasantness to the already pleasant experience.
Especially if he’d ordered too much wine, and chose to share it with others.
Especially, if it was Merlot….

JoBParticipantmiws.. you are on a roll…

November 17, 2013 at 7:34 pm #800181
2 Much WhineParticipantMike, I don’t think it is technically possible to order too much wine. It might be possible to drink too much but I’ve rarely experienced that ;-)
Go Hawks!
