Help me ID this insect

It’s about 2 inches long without wings. Curls it’s “tail” up and flips on it’s back a lot. Creepy as #$@!

I don’t know what it is, but if it is a beetle, I’ve never seen one so segmented.

Rove beetles are very interesting critters. It’s scary when they do their scorpion imitation, but they’re very beneficial insects!

These critters have some protein. If you’re stranded in the wild, you better learn to chock these guys down or you’ll starve to death.
