JeffroMemberWe have a 1988 Lennox Pulse furnace that we have been trying to get serviced once a year, but when West Seattle Furnace closed down a couple years back we no longer had anyone we could rely on. To complicate matters, we haven’t found a place that will service our type of furnace. Anyone out there have any recommendations? Our furnace predictably fails whenever the temperature dips below freezing.

MargLMemberAre the places you’ve contacted refusing to service because it’s old and they think you need a new furnace or because they just don’t know how?

KBearParticipantI think West Seattle Furnace was taken over by Brennan, who installed our furnace a few years ago. They are a Lennox dealer, and we were happy with their service. Did you try them? 248-7900.

JeffroMemberMargL – I haven’t been told I need a new furnace over the phone, what I’ve gotten is that they don’t work with those furnaces. I’m now aware that 20+ years is pretty old in furnace years, but surely there’s older furnaces out there that are still getting serviced.
KBear – I tried Brennan, and while they seemed nice, they referred me over to Greenwood Heating, which I have only read bad things about in my searches online.

pennidoggParticipantI’ve had good luck with Burien Natural Gas Service, 206-248-2196. They retrofitted our furnace’s ignitor coil and were the only ones that seemed to want to help as I was calling around trying to find the part to replace the coil that went bad.

KenParticipantDid you get your free carbon monoxide detector?

If it missed the recall or it has not been pressure tested, you might need to look into a replacement unit.

swimcatMemberWhen we had an oil furnace, we always had it serviced by Glendale. That furnace was over 60 years old and they never once tried to tell us to replace it but did warn us it might not last more than 10 more years. And they were right- it only lasted 3, and it was probably because we let the tank run out of oil a few too many times… oops.
