gavinMemberI just had a strange encounter down here on 47th Ave, a couple blocks down from Alaska.
A couple guys in their late teens or early 20s came by, offering to shampoo our rugs or, when they saw we had hardwood floors, to wax them. They said they’d do it for free today only, because that would help them win a trip to Mexico.
Their behavior was strange, and I thought perhaps they were casing the house. One kept trying to look behind me, as if to see what was in the house, while the other asked me what I’d be doing that day (if I’d be out, etc).
When they left, they didn’t leave the flier behind, either — they insisted on taking it with them.
I called to report this to the police. They recommended that if I see them again, I call 911.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this, or seen these two young men?

AnonymousInactiveGavin, non-legitimate solicitors are a common topic. These links don’t address your specific situation today, but might have some general info for you. It looks like others email Tracy (blog editor/owner editor@westseattleblog.com ) and she posts the current ruse on the home page.
Door-to-door alert: “Obnoxious,” “belligerent” solicitors reported
If you put solicitors in the search box (top right), there are many more as well.

WSBKeymasterWe actually have a coverage category “Door to door alert” – full list of coverage categories is down the right sidebar, beneath the weather widget

Flaw of the format in that there is no way for me to take this post and put it in that category but future upgrades hopefully will include some way to do that.
