    I mailed my paper tax return on February 7. IRS refund tool shows no record of it being received. For those of you who did not file online, are you in the same limbo? Shall I assume it got lost in the mail and e file?

    They’re way behind. The return I mailed in May 2021 has just now shown up as in process. I think the backlog from last year is something like 10,000 returns. They most likely received your paper return, just haven’t logged it yet.

    US mail is very slow right now and IRS is also slow so I wouldn’t worry yet.
