CaitParticipantNo one is going to acknowledge JoB’s “confident fart” argument?! The 12 year old in me is dying over here. Never quite thought of it that way before… or ANYTHING that way before lol.

JanSParticipantwhen you don’t have confidence in them, you’re in a lot of trouble, Cait…lolol…

JoBParticipantCait.. i suspect you haven’t had to ;-)
LOL.. i considered using nudity… imagine the outrage at walking nude in the park… but since most people haven’t seen my clothed exterior.. i feared they would miss the full impact.
it never occurred to me that anyone would miss the impact of a person who can’t reliably fart letting loose in public… but there you go :)
the point is that we either choose to live by the social contract or we don’t…
too many people don’t see off leash dogs as a major breach of that contract because they aren’t personally affected by it…
but for those of us who are.. it’s a big deal.
i really shouldn’t have to drive park to park to find one where i can walk my dogs without fear of being accosted by unleashed dogs… no-one should.

JoBParticipantno moo..
you probably didn’t notice.. but at no point have i ever suggested anything more than politely informing the owner with an unleashed dog that their leash is far more effective if it is actually attached to their dog.
the fact that they carry that leash indicates that they know exactly what the law is and hope to spot an animal control officer and attach it before they are ticketed.
if only they were as observant of their dogs.
because i have two dogs that are better walked in controlled circumstances, I am always aware of other dog walkers, joggers, bikers, unsupervised children and …
I am pretty careful to keep my dogs well away from all possible threats to their safety… which include unleashed dogs.
If an unleashed dog manages to get close enough to approach my dogs, it is definitely out of it’s owner’s control.
and that’s not safe for any of us.. including the dog.

JoBParticipantand on the forums today..
a post asking if anyone knows a dog in Highland Park…
detailing the danger that unleashed dogs present to both other dogs and people…
the largest tragedy is that everyone who walks their dog unleashed thinks that this can’t happen with their dog because they are right there…
the truth is that it can.. and does.. to the nicest people with the best intentions …
sometimes with awful consequences…
why risk that?

miwsParticipantIf the offending dog owner is sitting on a park bench, you could always walk by and fart in their face! ;-)
