I went to the Admiral Pub last night. I havn’t been there in about 2 years. I rememberd it as a smoky run-down watering hold. It certainly has changed. Very clean and looks totally different. I went because I heard they were having a Rockband competition so I went with my BF. It was totally fun. They have a camera on you so it shows on the tvs and cool fog machine and lighing. The best part of the whole night was I was talked in to having a steak served raw on a super heated volcanic granite. The owner, I think his name was Derick promised me I would love it or he would buy dinner for both of us. We did! I have never heard of anyhting like this before and it was a great experience. We had 2 Filet Mignon and baked potatoes for under 35.00! We cooked our steaks just how we liked them on this stone and I am sold. It was way better than a 40.00 steak at a steakhouse. He called it Rockgrill or Stonegrill or somthing like that. Just though I would spread the word. I get excited about new culinary experiences. You can find me rockin Eye of the Tiger next Thursday night.

Sounds like it’s some kind of culinary trend – Google turns up more than a few references:

Uh oh, red meat and RockBand. I’d better keep my husband away from the forums or I’ll have lost him to another local establishment (Prost and Beveridge Place already have him in their delicious beer-filled grips.)

I remember the Mongolian HotPot…dinner for 4 was a really fun, adventurous double dating experience…raw meat, veggies, hot bubbling oil or broth…yeah…fun…the asian version of fondue cooking – lol…

Growing up, I remember many occasions, sitting at the kitchen counter with our electric fondue pot (best one, EVER. the sterno kind just doesn’t heat as well.) and enjoying some crusty french bread or granny smith slices dipped in ooey-gooey emmenthaler.

I’ve been to the Melting Pot a handful of times (tasty, but I always walk away feeling just ill from the richness of it) and finally got around to trying Blue Ginger in Bellevue a couple years ago. They do a hot pot, and it’s quite a fun experience if you’ve never been. Love their bulgogi.
