potterygirlMemberhas anyone been having issue with weakening signal from Comcast just south of the Morgan junction? I’ve been having issue with mine (snowy TV channels & no internet connection) for a week now and due to the unsuccessful service attempt, I finally did some troubleshooting on my own and found out that if I use a smaller splitter – ie less signal loss + with the use of an signal amplifier I was able to make it work. Just wondering if it’s just me or have others in the area experienced the same?? Thanks

LisaMParticipantI have been having touble with my TV, not my internet. When they came out, they said it was the wire behind my wall and would need to put in a new outlet and run new line. It’s weird though, because I still get certain channels just fine, and the ones I don’t get during the day, they come back at night!
I think they checked the splitter but not sure about the amplifier…hmmm…
I live in Admiral. Anyway, not sure what I am going to do as I don’t like the idea of cable running through my living room wall, but I do miss Animal Planet…

KenParticipantI had a similar issue after the windstorm of 06.
I tried to work with comcast for several months but ended up switching to Dish network.
They told me that since I had one tv 12 feet from the drop that got 80% of the channels I was paying for, they considered it normal and saw no need to fix it.
Before the “downgrade” I was paying for 2 cable boxes and had 5 tv’s working without amps. I was also paying for the top tier.
Since I had a working frequency counter and knew how to pull up the diagnostic info on the cable box, I argued with the dofus they sent to check it and he tried to charge me for a truck roll.
My block is now pretty much covered with Dish and Direct and the vast majority of wireless routers I pick up when I scan the neighborhood are DSL.
Across the street the new comcast fiber for Highpoint seems to be working just fine but it switches to digital over coax before it runs to the units.
As long as they have no need to spend money on the infrastructure, they can spend it on lying ad saturation.

PatrickKeymasterLike Ken we had no end of trouble after the wind storm. In the summer of 2007 there was a fender bender and one of the cars went up on the curb and took out a Comcast router box. We were without cable for about a day but after that the signal cleared up.
I would point out that Comcast is a utility and as such it is responsible for making sure you get a decent signal in the same way that City Light is responsible for getting your a steady supply of electricity. I’d phone and ask some one to come out.

JayDeeParticipantI know I keep saying I will switch to Satellite, but now that Comcast will be decontenting my so-called expanded basic ($85/month) and turning HD feeds into non-HD, and making one get a controller box (so they can tempt one with unneeded pay-per-view content), I may finally get up the gumption to do so. I think Direct TV is preferable but I have no strong feelings except ABC: Anyone But Comcast.
So if you are losing channels, it may be due to Comcast deliberately moving content so you either need a new cable box to access it, or decontenting the offerings to make the $125 (or so) HD package more desirable. The SeaTimes has had a series of articles discussing these changes to Comcast’s service.
