m3bodyworksMemberWe have been without Comcast since 9 AM and since we are a business class service, they are coming between 12 – 4 PM today.
Is anyone else out? Last time it was just our building, but wondering if it’s the same thing again or is it more wide spread.

ItsForrestMemberThis is why I dumped Comcast for business service. They don’t seem to understand what “business class” means. After several business-stopping outages, I went back to Qwest DSL. Although they were much slower, they were much more reliable.
If you have the patience, and enough complaints on file, you can get out of your contract. Only problem, sitting on hold each time it crashes long enough to get through their customer service deterrent system in order to register a complaint.

m3bodyworksMemberthanks ItsForrest
We have Qwest in the Back Office but found the phone system isn’t as reliable for faxing (incoming and outgoing fax machines)
I think it’s the building we’re in that’s the issue.
If there was another cable service I certainly would be using it!

WSBKeymasterI haven’t heard any other reports today, but it tends to happen in geographic pockets (except for that one widespread one we had a couple weeks back) …

m3bodyworksMemberEvidently, we are connected to a bad node and they had 15 calls this AM about the internet being down. 5200 Block of California.
Time for some competition in the cable market!

FranciParticipantComcast has been pretty flakey lately.. My cable tv went haywire last night just as the 11:00 news came on, then again this am during the 6:30 news hour… It would be nice if they could get their act together. It seems to be happening with some frequency lately.

miwsParticipantGeez! Maybe they should just buy naming rights to a horse race track (not ours!) and call it Comcast Downs!

bsmommaParticipantWe had cable in some rooms this morning. But in the workout room at about 6:30 it said my service was temporarily interrupted. Haven’t checked since. Right now, our local stations have no sound. On demand works just fine. I WISH WISH WISH there was a better cable/phone/internet company for the North Admiral! It’s so spotty for any type of connection needing some sort of tower over here. :( I know…..whaaaahhhh. :)

DianeParticipantI’ve also been very frustrated with comcast cable tv outages recently, like Franci said, right when 11pm news was coming on last night, the basic lower stations all went out; the cable stations, mainly 44+ worked fine, but couldn’t even get the local news; ridiculous; it’s the stupid digital box; my 2nd tv is connected directly to the cable and everything came through fine, while my high cost box was messing up the reception; I’m thinking of downgrading to bare minimum, and REALLY wish there were a better option; yes comcast REALLY needs competition to up their game and lower their rates

metrognomeParticipantjust so ya know, the city has an Office of Cable Communications where you can file complaints about the TV service (I’m pretty sure they don’t deal with phone or internet complaints as the city’s contract with Comcast only deals with the cable TV monopoly):
I don’t know if the WA Utility and Transportation Commission regulates Comcast’s phone service or not, but you can ask them:
http://www.utc.wa.gov/Pages/default.aspx
And, if nothing else, there is the BBB and the WA Atty Gen’l which enforces state consumer protection statutes.

m3bodyworksMemberRAVE West Seattle Blog
I just spoke to the front desk admin that was here when the comcast tech showed up. When he saw that our system was down, he used our desk computer to go out to West Seattle Blog to see if there was an outage. Evidently he’s a local of West Seattle. Hmmm West Seattle Blog is all knowing in comcast outages before Comcast themselves.

dhgParticipantAnd we are down again. It has been more than 13 hrs, no tv, no net. Comcast should adopt the slinky as their logo. Up down up down…..
September 14, 2011 at 6:40 pm #734208
dhgParticipantand now it’s up. That’s 16 hrs of downtime!

FranciParticipantJust experienced another Comcast outage – local stations not working, cable stations were.. its all back now, but very annoying
September 22, 2011 at 12:18 am #734211
librarianMemberFranci I am having trouble this afternoon too. It has frozen for a few minutes several times. We were watching local stations too.

FranciParticipantWow just Wow – decided I was tired of the intermittent Comcast service. I called to cancel, after waiting on hold for at least 5 min, I got a live person who listented to why I wanted to cancel, she asked to check out service issues in my area, I agreed. I was then routed to a robo message about service issues in Western Washington, I stayed on the line on hold – got routed to antoher support person. I explained what I had just gone through and that I still wanted to cancel – mid sentance I end up on hold. Then disconnected. It took a 2nd call and the 3rd support person to actually cancel my account. It seems their Live support is as crappy as their cable service.
