Arbor Heights GuyMemberLooking for some help in choosing colors for living room / dining room areas in an old West Seattle home. I can paint, I just have a time deciding on a palate of colors for a room. Anyone have any experience with Authentic Home Color Consult on California? other recommendations?

jbarMemberPeggy Nelsen Design!!! pegnelsen@comcast.net
She’s a very talented graphic designer and color consultant who lives right here in west seattle. She’s an amazing gardner too!

addParticipantI haven’t used Authentic Home personally, but they were VERY generous with their time (advice, color consultation) and products (gallons upon gallons of free paint) to Pathfinder school when we re-painted the portables. So, just for being a great community member, I would recommend checking them out!

ellenaterMemberTotally off topic but the new eco paints are awesome. NO VOCs. And beautiful and easy to work with. Mystic has some really nice colors.

Arbor Heights GuyMemberThank you all; I will contact Authentic Home Color and Peggy Nelson Design (who I wasn’t aware of) and consider those no VOC’s paints. Looking forward rooms with a look that a trained eye can give.

MulliganMemberWe used Kathy Banak at Authentic Homes for a color consultation. We thought her suggestions and advice were well worth the consultation fee. We used Kathy’s color recommendations and the “green” paints sold at Authentic Home on the interior of our house. We’re thrilled with the results. I would highly recommend Authentic Homes to anyone looking for color advice and/or environmentally friendly paint!

cjboffoliParticipantG-Man: Good on you for being man enough to admit your discomfort with color selection. You’re not alone. There is a lot of color anxiety in our country. Take a walk down any neighborhood street some night and the view (from the sidewalk) of the interior of most houses is bland white. House after house with white interior walls. I just don’t get it.

Arbor Heights GuyMemberAfter calling, and with all do respect to Authentic Home, I’m sure she does a fine job, but her on site fee is $375.00/hr. In store is no charge, but $375 is just too much. I called Peggy Nelson pegnelsen@comcast.net, her on site fee is $100/hr.

AlkidonParticipantThought I’d just chime in on Peggy Nelson. We used her (and loved her) when we remodeled and reopened our business, Alki Mail and Dispatch, 4701 SW Admiral Way in 2005. We also used her services at our home. …great sense of style and color. Highly recommend her. Her contact # is 206-935-9009. Good luck. Don Wahl

GoldoneMemberPeggy Nelsen is the best to work with! She has an amazing gift for color and a great sense of style. She helped us with color inside/outside and finishes. It looks fantastic, everyone that has seen our place complements us on the color choices. You will not be disappointed working with Peggy!

hellopleaseParticipantPeggy Nelson is the very best color consultant, ever! I would not paint anything in my home without consulting her first. She has saved me hundreds of dollars in bad color choices of my own. She is fair in her pricing and charges less than the industry standard. On top of that she is kind, fun loving and oh so cute.

WSGirlMemberOK-One more plug for Peggy Nelsen! We used her for interior and exterior color guidance for our recent rebuild project. The house looks fantastic and she was an absolute pleasure to work with. We are now tackling the yard and she has great ideas for that too. Check her out. Peggy Nelson-thepaintedroom.com or phone her at 935-9009.

DebraMemberI have to add my praise for Peggy Nelson of the Painted Room (thepaintedroom.com, phone 935-9009). Peggy has totally transformed my home with her color recommendations – colors I never would have picked on my own from small paint chips. She helped me step outside my ‘color box’ and was right on target with every single color. She has also saved me hundreds of dollars in wrong color choices I would have made and many hours of labor. Everyone who comes in my house raves about the colors. She also did the exterior colors on my neighbor’s house and it is stunning. I never paint anymore without checking with Peggy first! She is the greatest – and so nice too!

KathiMemberOkay, I want to add my kudos for Peggy Nelsen too! She is wonderful. I didn’t give her much to go on as far as rugs, lamps, furniture etc. All I gave her were some loose suggestions of what I liked and she got it spot on!!!! I have receive so many compliments on my colors. Thank you Peggy!!!
