Has anyone rented the hall at Camp Long for a party or event? They are closed right now for remodel and we have the main hall reserved for a gathering in September. We need some info on the tables, fridge, stove, facilities situation. Also what lessons were learned and what would you do differently?

    Thanks!

Not sure about all the amenities but this might help:

Also, there was a previous thread that included discussions about Camp Long:

    https://westseattleblog.com/forum/topic/wedding-locations-nontraditional

    Data from the first site:

“A fantastic place to host a party, meeting, workshop, or special event. The lodge features a brick fireplace and tall ceiling and has a maximum capacity of 72 people. Rental cost includes 12 six-foot-long banquet tables and 72 chairs.”

Also says you can rent the kitchen as well but doesn’t give much about cost or the facilities….

Thank you for the links. We have toured the facility and rented before they started re-construction and it is coming down to the wire. Somehow neither of us remember the tables and chairs. Those last minute details that would “just work out” haven’t… We weren’t told about the kitchen – that would make things easier as we are trying to decide yes/no on have it catered or having my brides father, who is a working chef, do it – he offered.

Hopefully someone who has had a DO there will have some lessons-learned advice concerning the kitchen, clean-up, having booze (we have a bartender and extra insurance), etc…

    Thanks!

:) As you sleuthed out, we were married at Camp Long, but that was 15 years ago in August so policies may have changed! We didn’t have any trouble, though…the only wrinkle was that our wedding was on a Saturday and it turned out they weren’t supposed to rent it out to a private event then, but given that they had already said we could use it and a couple weeks went by before they realized the error they kindly let us go ahead since we’d already made a bunch of other arrangements based on that date. It was a great space, reasonably priced and had everything we needed. We only used the hall and had catered food brought in that didn’t require the use of the kitchen. We didn’t serve alcohol and we had a lot of friends and family who stayed to do the cleanup while we headed off to our honeymoon. So, not too much to tell, really, except that it worked well for us!

herongrrrl: Thank you for the response and info. I hope our wedding and reception run as smoothly.

The kitchen is part of what’s being renovated.

So anyone’s past experience with that won’t apply.

Our son’s 5th birthday party was at Camp Long (nine years ago, though) and it is still a great memory. Such a great setting, you really can’t go wrong.

Great info about the Kitchen. I should have dug a little deeper on my own at the parks website… I called the parks dept and the kitchen will be “as good, maybe better”, but they don’t have any detail yet as construction is still ongoing.
