bollards are usually incorporated into the slab. it’s just a piece of 4″ or 6″ steel pipe set in a post hole with a little firm concrete mix. then, when the slab is poured around it, it’s filled with concrete and a rounded finish is put on top.
you could bolt one to your driveway if someone makes a steel tube with a flange at the bottom. seems like a cheaper option than cutting a hole in the slab and trying to incorporate it, but i don’t know that it would withstand impact.
