    Wonderful Opportunity for College Students and those looking for additional income!

    With Winter Break quickly approaching, it is time to consider a fun and skill building opportunity and earn some extra cash!

    Associated Recreation Council in partnership with Seattle Parks & Rec. now interviewing for Child Care Counselors at Schmitz Park Elementary in West Seattle, along with other Seattle locations.

    Our school-age care programs provide a fun, creative, safe, and welcoming environment for children to learn, play, and grow. During Winter Break, Spring Break and Summer; our participants enjoy full day camps, which creates an opportunity for 30-40 hour weekly shifts available. Perfect for those looking to make some cash while taking a break from school or wanting a little extra for the holidays! You will enjoy 6-8 hour daily shifts, the joy of engaging with children ages 5-12 and working with other skilled staff to expand your own skills.

    You also have the opportunity to join our Child Care Substitute pool; our substitute pool helps employees gain experience working in our programs and can provide the foundation for becoming permanent placed employees. When permanent positions open, we first look to our substitute pool for qualified candidates. If you enjoy your experience, we invite you to return for future break camps with a priority return staffing status.

    Our Counselors:

    -Organize and lead programs and activities such as: arts and crafts, organized games, cultural activities, drama, music, story hour, sports, field trips and other special projects and events.

    -Work with other staff to ensure the care and safety of participants at all times.

    -Must be willing to complete training for certification in First Aid/CPR, Food Handlers Permit, HIV/AIDS blood-borne pathogens education.

    Requirements:

    -Eighteen years of age or older

    -High School diploma/GED or transcripts of secondary education

    -At least one year experience working with 5 to 12 year olds

    -Clear Tuberculosis Results within the past year.

    -Must Pass criminal background check

    -Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the US and valid government issued ID

    -Must provide proof of social security number

    -Must sign up for direct deposit with either checking or savings account or Payroll Paycard

    Shifts-

    While School is in session Shifts 7-9am and/or 3-6pm.

    During Breaks M-F, 8-4:30, 9-5, 2-6pm

    Winter Break, Spring Break and; Summer shifts Mid-June thru end of August.
