JayDeeParticipantYep; a short rock of the bed at 5:24? just before the alarm went off. I’d say it was a small one based on the short-duration ground motion.

KenParticipantI felt nothing. I did notice the fog rolling in at about that time. But I live on one of the few parts of the highpoint hill where the gravel and glacial rock was not removed before building.

littlebrowndogParticipantI was sitting at my computer and for maybe 3-4 seconds felt just the tiniest of movements. I thought maybe it was just me shifting in the chair. I looked up at the light hanging above me and it was not moving. I thought maybe it was something like a 2-something quake. When it started coming in on the TV news and I learned it was a 4.6 I was amazed. And it’s even more incredible to me to hear people’s descriptions of the sensations. I guess elsewhere in Seattle others also felt nothing in some places. None of the pets had any reaction, either.
I’m on 49th in between Hudson and Dawson.

CMPParticipantI was up but apparently not awake enough to notice an earthquake at that time. I’m in an old brick building too, so I’m surprised I didn’t notice anything…the cracks on my walls indicate it might not be the sturdiest structure during a quake!

JenVMembertotally slept thru it – and I am in a 1910 house. If anything I would have thought the cat would have freaked out and woken me up. Nothing.

bsmommaParticipantI was at the gym by myself this morning when I heard & felt a big BOOM followed by shaking. I thought someone had let the gate slam but no one ever walked in. Then KOMO came back from commercial and said they think we may have just had an earthquake. They confirmed id seconds later. I hate Earthquakes. I still keep getting goose bumps up my spine. My office is above a warehouse……. not helping today.

SueParticipantDidn’t feel a thing. My cat meowed around that time, but that’s nothing new for him, so we just tell him to shut up and go away so I can get another 30 minutes of sleep. :)

dawn211MemberI woke (slightly) to my mirrored closet doors rattling lightly. They’ve never done that before. Furnace wasn’t on. I was sleepily wondering why they were rattling. Now I know!

Quite likely was asleep at the time, but not 100% sure.

cathywMember@miws – He was really shook up – literally. He actually lost quite a few feathers. It took quite a bit of TLC to settle him down afterward. Fortunately he seems ok now. I forgot to mention that the earthquake also upset our cat. She jumped up off the bed and ran around downstairs like crazy. I never did get back to sleep……..

I lost my parrot a few years ago, as the result of injuries suffered in a “night fright”. :-(

cathywMemberOh, I’m so sorry. How horrible. It never occurred to me that could happen….but, it does make sense. They fall off their perch in a dead sleep and make an awkward landing. They really could have a bad fall and injure themselves. I guess we were really lucky. We also have a sun conure. But she sleeps in a furry sling at night instead of standing on a perch. We weren’t home during the Nisqually quake so I don’t know how the animals reacted then. But since it was during the day, they were probably awake enough to hang onto their perches.

alki_2008ParticipantIt was fairly noticeable down in the Alki beach area. Strong enough to wake me from a deep sleep – but not strong enough to be very alarming. :)
