I have a gently used walker that you are welcome to borrow. It does not have wheels, however.

You are welcome to phone on my landline (206) 937-8320 to arrange a pickup or delivery if you are in West Seattle.

Have there been any updates since you started the thread? You should find a law firm that will help you get compensation. I got into the same car accident a year ago. Luckily I was OK, but my car wasn’t.

anonyme- Y’all feeling extra snarky this morning? They just asked a simple question, suggesting the answer to their problem is to move and that they have a physical problem is not very nice. It could be with all the covid changes some restaurants have increased their ventilation that could make them colder than they used to be. This person doesn’t deserve your snark because they are cold.

I feel sorry for you. Have you already contacted Pusch and Nguyen for help with getting compensation?

aa, I agree with you; the tipping ‘requirement’ has gotten out of control. The example you gave, pouring a cup of coffee, is also performed by 7-11 employees. Are they tipped? Checkers and baggers in grocery stores actually do far more actual work for each customer and yet are rarely, if ever, tipped. Restaurant workers in Washington state make the same minimum wage as anyone else. There is a certain restaurant in the Junction that has NO table service. Orders are placed at the counter, and the customer either retrieves the order when ready, or someone takes a few steps to drop the food at your table. And yet payment – including the onscreen request for a tip – is made at the time of ordering. Why tip for something that not only hasn’t happened yet but shouldn’t require a tip? If you select “no tip” you’ve just made that option clear to the person about to make your food – never a good idea. My old salon used to charge an additional $5 to cover ’employee health expenses’ back when the law changed. They’ve now redefined the fee as a ‘sanitation’ fee – WTF, you don’t clean your salon and tools unless people pay extra? These are business expenses, not individualized special services. I’m more than happy to tip and tip generously, but the expectation that everyone who works behind a counter is entitled to a tip is unjustified.

I wonder what others think about the new option to add a tip to your order at Starbucks. I believe that the process of tipping has long been a way for employers to give themselves permission to pay low wages. Why should I be expected to tip people just because their employer doesn’t pay a fair wage? I am not against tipping for all situations but when someone pours me a cup of drip coffee? That is not service above and beyond, you are doing your job. No, I will not tip you for that. We need to make employers pay a living wage. Starbucks employees should not need my financial help, their employer needs to step up and pay better wages.

Selling an old Christmas tree! Comes with red and gold ornaments and a separate string of lights (soft white lights on a white cord). The tree originally came with attached lights but they burnt out so I took them off a few years ago. Tree is 5 or 6 feet (I think it’s 6 but honestly I don’t want to take it back out of the box to check), originally bought from Target. I have the original box it came in, though it’s been taped/re-taped several times, so it’s not in the best shape.

Asking $45 for tree + ornaments + light strand! I’ll have to ask you to come pick it up since I don’t drive; I’m located in Alaska Junction. Cash payment preferrable but open to Paypal (no Venmo). If interested, please text 702-701-3072!

The location of the former 24-Hour Fitness in Westwood Village is showing some activity inside lately, with the lights on and some ductwork being done. I heard rumors from multiple parties of L.A. Fitness taking over the space, but nothing clear. I keep hoping a gym will be reopened here. Does anybody have an inside track on what’s happening here?

    Thanks!

I was curious about this Rant. Upon investigating this property, it has been listed for sale since 11/12/2022. Sale is pending as of 12/5/2022. I have not come across any public ROW or easement except for possible utilities – which is NOT for public ROW as Mark47n stated.

Assuming you will never have access in the future, you all may want to get together/pool your $$ and look into (1)purchasing this property OR (2)obtaining an easement with your new neighbors.

I do not frequent this area and am not affected by the loss of this “convenient” path (though I did use it a couple times years ago when I would take long walks). As a property owner, you are liable for anything that happens on your property. If someone gets hurt, or if this path becomes a neighborhood nuisance, you are liable.
Hopefully, all of you will be welcoming/”more neighborly” to your new neighbors and, as Kskjal puts it – “less assholeish”.

Sounds like it might be the result of a change in ownership of the property and the new owners don’t want people walking through. If that’s the case, they probably don’t have the same connection to their neighbors as the previous owners had. There are some nice stories here, maybe there is a conversation to be had with the new owners?

I asked this question in these forums some time ago, and got two recommendations for Tyler Linsten of Alder Cove Capital. He is a legal fiduciary, meaning he is required to make recommendations that only benefit *you*. We have really enjoyed working with him so far. He asks great questions and clearly has our best interests at heart: not only through finances, but through helping us assess our life priorities and allocate our resources in alignment and support of those.

(He used to live in West Seattle, and has moved his office to I think Tukwila. We’ve done all our meetings online so far.)

We heartily recommend Tyler. I’ve sent friends and family his way.

Bella Mente Early Learning in West Seattle is looking for full time and part time preschool teachers.

We are a Reggio inspired school. Reggio schools are impossible to mimic, however, we have taken the ideas that truly speak to us and have developed our school around them. We serve over 100 families, ages infancy through school age. We have created an environment where children feel secure and confident and are treated as proficient individuals who are capable of communicating and problem solving and who want to be a part of their own learning.

Our teachers are competent leaders who participate in the overall development of our school. Our classrooms work individually to develop curriculum around the interests, inquiries, and identities of the children and teacher that they serve. We want to bring in teachers who can help us in continuing to grow toward what our intended vision is for our school.

If you are a responsible, reflective, collaborative, and compassionate individual, we would love for you to choose to pursue this career in Early Childhood Education with us!

Details: PTO accrued, medical benefits available for 32+ hours per week. Full or part time schedule options available. We support working parents in all ways! Hi all! I lost my Pixel 6 phone on Friday evening in the vicinity of SW 100th and 21st Ave SW. It’s pink with a translucent pink cover and a pink finger holder on its back. Unfortunately, it’s no longer charged, so I can’t locate the exact position. Thank you for letting me know if you found it! You can leave a message for me at 206-444-0848.

I agree that the gate should not be blocked from neighborhood access as I have used that pathway for over 20yrs. Living in the neighborhood, I have met and talked to many people as they walked to and from the park. This is the charm of our neighborhood and the reason I live here. Please reach out to those that live along the street to see what can be done. We are here to make it right together.

I too, am dismayed to see this walk through/ gate boarded up. So many people in the neighborhood have used this path for decades. Connecting with neighbors and friends on the other side, kids getting to and from school, Walking pets, Halloween trick or treating, neighborhood celebrations. All taken away and for what?? What kind of neighbor does such a thing?
