AnonymousInactiveI’d like to respond intelligently, but your statement doesn’t really make sense to me. Are you trying to say christians will interpret things in whatever manner suits their argument?

in forum Open DiscussionAlkiKmacParticipantThere is a baby seal on Alki Beach and people are already getting too close. Does anyone remember the phone number to call to report this?

May 20, 2008 at 10:14 pm #624760In reply to: What’s with these guys?
WesMemberExcept researching what the Bible does have to say on the topic and then to think it through rationally to see if it makes sense. Also, read my explanation to Jan above about interpretations.
Would it be a fair interpretation of your comment if I thought it said, “The Bible is the best resource for all of life’s answers! End of story.”? Is that what you were implying?
May 20, 2008 at 10:08 pm #624759In reply to: What’s with these guys?
AnonymousInactiveI would get to live my life according to my pastor’s, priest, Rabbi’s, interpretation of a book. I have a question. God has the answer. End of thought process. No need for research.

WSMomParticipantOkay, I love Husky Deli. I love their ice cream, I love their sandwiches, I love their raspberry filled homemade scones that are incredibly yummy, and Jack is probably the nicest close talker in West Seattle…but, the place needs a clean bathroom, a good dusting and new floors. There, I said it, it’s time for sprucing up the place, IMHO.
I’ve never had an issue with the hours of operation, works fine for me. Husky Deli is the essence of West Seattle. Jack and his family are so generous with our schools, local charities and sports teams. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a fundraiser where something wasn’t donated by Husky Deli.

AnonymousInactiveTonya42, you’re hurting my head. I can’t remember what I was thinking this morning, let alone a week ago :)
My question was, what does this mean *many select groups opposed the concept* in reference to making things work. Who opposes that concept? I like things to work.

WesMemberJT, Please explain to me how believing in God equals never thinking for yourself again.
May 20, 2008 at 9:45 pm #624757In reply to: What’s with these guys?
AnonymousInactiveTrust me Wes, it would be *easier* to believe in god and never have to think for myself again.
May 20, 2008 at 9:43 pm #624678WesMemberI was waiting for Ken to come and tell us what is right and what is wrong. Thank you Ken!
I don’t think it’s alarmist at all, I think that it is something to be aware of and to consider so that there are solid definitions in place.

I was there yesterday afternoon too! Laurel gave me my second ever cut there. Very pleased. And, I did the same thing checking on the no tip policy the first time I was in. They are good to their people. And, their people definitely know their craft from every one I have seen walk out of there. I like ’em a lot.

WesMemberJan, I understand now thank you.
To respond to your last comment, I believe the interpretation goes to the author or writer and what they meant by it. If you wrote a book about a dog and used the word dog, and someone interpreted as an elephant, who would be right? You of course, you wrote it and you meant dog. So although people can interpret things to what they want them to say, you can know the truth about the authors intention and true meaning behind it. So in short, I agree this can happen but the Bible makes it very clear that sin is breaking God’s law. If I wanted this to work for me, then I would say I am not sinful like JT, that would obviously be easier.
You have to see past the relativist ideology, to see that there are absolute right and wrongs.
May 20, 2008 at 9:15 pm #624677Tonya42MemberWhy all the negative comments about right wingers? Is everyone that threatened? What gives people? I thought the point of debate was to do just that?

GinaParticipantDon’t even need to go as far as Canada, just to World Market/Cost Plus. Huge selection of British bisquits and sweets. Not a huge markup in price. Nearest one is out by Southcenter.

Tonya42, are you saying if we dislike Bolton, we dislike the concept of the UN working? Or maybe we all dislike working in general? I’m trying to follow you, but it just sounds like a back-handed slam, not an opinion.
No JT, that is my take on his performance, not a “back-handed slam”. All my slams will be face forward. :)
Bolton cut thru a lot of red tape and actually got some things done.

gambaruParticipantIn defense of Admiral’s Pub, a group of us were there celebrating one night and were actually politely and tactfully cut off at one point to “slow us down”. They also made sure our DD was drinking nothing but water and soda. In fact I believe her soda was on the house… We had a wonderful time and there was no hard feelings on either side. We stayed a long time to wind down before we left.
I didn’t see what Dazzlespace saw, but from my understanding resturaunts and bars are typically pretty careful about over serving and letting people go driving due to dram shop insurance. If someone leaves absolutely wasted and gets in an accident, legally speaking the establishment could be sued for their part in the situation. (At least that was the lay of the land when I wrote a paper on it in college a few years ago…)
**Dazzlespace is just on a rampage. I was on another thread where he/she warped it with hostility. Kind of wrecks it for the rest of us.
