I don’t know how big a problem this is, but given Seattle’s reluctance to enforce most laws it might be bigger than you’d think. I know that I have neighbors whose multiple cars have all had Oregon tags for 15 years ++; different, but related. The issue is one of fairness; somebody has to pay, and those who don’t pay their fair share place the increased burden on everyone else. So yes, it does affect “us”. Nor do I understand why everyone is piling on Eddie. His gas station idea might not be the best or most workable, but the issue itself is as legitimate as any of the other rants posted in the forums. As Jort might point out, maybe it’s because Americans anthropomorphize their cars and get downright tetchy if anyone suggests putting constraints on that ‘relationship’.

    Hello,
I am interested in learning about co-working or co-crafting spaces in West Seattle. I have a computer job and I’m on conference calls about 1/2 of the time. I also enjoy drawing and other crafts. I enjoy ambient noise – kids, dogs, other people working, the sounds of a busy store, or the like. I’d be open to working in someone else’s home, office, the back end of someone’s local store in extra space, or other spaces. I’m friendly and upbeat, but also respectful and quiet. I am sensitive to molds, dust, and cats, so I’d like a clean, cat-free space.
I tried the Co-working space in West Seattle next to Paper Boat, but I had a reaction to the space (dust mites, mold?).
I’d be there during the day, probably. Open to a variety of prices/space ideas.

I find it hard to believe that the US Government is making phone calls. Those of us who don’t think like criminals often can’t imagine how calculated a criminal plot can be. Best to be cautious in my opinion.

I have been contacted by a representative from the US Census Bureau. They conduct follow-up surveys with selected households, asking for detailed info about income and expenses. I was able to provide this info anonymously, but it does seem legitimate but intrusive and I wondered if anyone else had any experience with this.

Are you a human who is loved by dogs? Do you consider yourself a dog person and love them right back? How about working with them? We’re hiring staff at our dog daycare and boarding facility in West Seattle, Good Dog.

NOTE: You MUST complete the submission steps as outlined at the end of this listing. Applicants who do not submit as directed will not be considered and will not be contacted. If this ad is up, we’re still accepting applicants (we always accept applicants because we’re always on the lookout for good humans!).

We have openings for all daytime shifts – every day of the week (INCLUDING weekends). We also need some overnight backup. If you have availability, you’ll get the hours! From 15 to 35+ per week.

    WEEKEND
    – About 15+ hours available per weekend (typical shift is 8:45 a.m. – 4:15 p.m.)
    – Could include an occasional overnight shift and will definitely include some holiday work during the holidays
    – MUST love dogs, be adept in working with customers, POS, etc.

    WEEKDAY
    – Up to 35+ hours per week
    – Opening and closing shifts (shifts could be 6:15 a.m. – 2:15 p.m.; 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; 2:15 – 7:15 p.m. or 11:15 a.m. – 7:15 p.m.)
    – Could include an occasional overnight shift and will definitely include some holiday work during the holidays
    – MUST love dogs, be adept in working with customers, POS, etc.

Our ideal candidate can follow the submission instructions, has flexibility with their availability, and is willing to work to cover the shifts where we’re short!

While we can train you on nearly everything you need to perform this job, we need you to have some customer service experience and be able to think on your feet with some finesse.

Furthermore, we need you to be a hard worker who is responsible and fun to have around. The pay for daytime shifts is $17.27 per hour ($15.75 plus tips). The pay scale for overnights is based on the number of dogs for which you’re caring. Should the number of dogs exceed 20, we add another overnight person who spends the night in a different room.

For more information about us and what this job requires, please go to our website (gooddog-inc.com) and visit the WORK WITH US page.

Once you’ve done that – and THIS is the important part – apply as follows:

    1. Submit your resume (PDF, please) via email with a cover letter (this can be the body of your email) to jobs@gooddog-inc.com
    2. Tell us why you’re a good fit.
    3. Tell us when you’re available to start.
    4. Tell us what your ongoing availability is.

Fit is more important than experience so while we’re not looking for someone with a bunch of experience, as noted, we do require some customer service experience or at least an inclination to be personable. Also as noted, we’re looking for a person who knows how to think on their feet, interface with people, loves dogs, and will fit with our team and help us make our business the best. Having experience with dogs is definitely a plus!

We look forward to hearing from you as you follow steps one through four above, but via email only, please (and attachments should be PDFs).

Remember, if you don’t follow the submission instructions, you won’t get a reply.

DO NOT call or drop by – our attention needs to be focused on the dogs, just email us at jobs@gooddog-inc.com

I don’t recall who said it, but I agree wholeheartedly, with the original post being right on the money in its enforcement of the stereotypes that abound about this region. If you’ve got the what it takes to break the law (it’s posted on the gates and fences) then you’ve got what it takes to accept the consequences. In this case it’s just someone calling you out on it…seems pretty lightweight to me, but it’s tweaked that sense of self-righteousness in you.

Just because it’s not causing immediate and discernible harm doesn’t mean that it’s not still illegal-despite how you feel about it. This is a concept that young children grasp; it’s against the rules, therefore you don’t do it. It would seem that we age out of that understanding and move on to equivocation and rationalizing. It’s ironic, isn’t it, that your anger is about possibly being called out rather than being upset with those that violate the rules that are in place to protect the health and wellbeing of those that use that playfield and periodically end up with a face full of it and hopefully just the field…that’s the purpose of those laws to protect HEALTH and safety of the users of a public school playfield.

No, there is no dog park specific to those who live in the Admiral District. There is no specific dog park for anyone, even those on Mercer Island who feel that Luther Burbank belongs just to them. Anyone can use any dog park. I’m sure you know that but you seem really put out that there isn’t one for your neighborhood, it’s okay to go use one in another neighborhood. Further, it’s extremely unlikely that there will ever be a dog park in the Admiral neighborhood, where would you put it? A new one is in the works and it will take years for that to become a reality.

Your second post is riddled with what I’ve noted as a new and aggravating trend of apparent anger that I don’t respond the way that you want. I don’t have to address your questions, I can say what I want, even if you think it is unrelated. I can criticize the concepts that you put forth and any crappy rhetoric you put forward. Your original post certainly led myself and others to presume that you were yelled at, given that that’s how you began this whole thread and it’s a reasonable thing to conclude. Further, in your second sullen post you don’t clarify anything, only attack the posts of others, other than to say you want to compare derrieres. To wrap this bit up, you also decide to go so far as criticizing the writing of others and compare it to that of a 6th grader.

So, to wrap up, your argument is terrible “I don’t like it and can’t see who it immediately hurts so the law doesn’t apply”, followed by “going to legal dog parks is inconvenient so I can use the school field”. Terrible arguments. I hope you’re not an attorney.

Well…isn’t that what people in a civilized society do but respect and follow the law???. Owning a pet is NOT a right-sorry it’s true. NOBODY has ever, or will ever stop you, or anybody else from getting any law changed. Why is it so important to ignore laws you don’t like??? Complaining you’re “harassed” when someone tells you you’re breaking the law speaks volumes about your feelings of entitlement.

    Job Description:
You will be representing Alki Kayak Tours in a professional manner at all times. In order to fill this position, you must truly love working with people and be passionate about kayaking and educating our guests about our local region. You will be a part of our team of guides who guide at least 3 tours each day with as many as 50 guests. The sea kayak guide position includes managing and taking care of equipment, communicating with other staff and clients, and setting up and putting away all gear for your tour. This involves cleaning all kayaks, PFDs, and paddles. You will be required to plan ahead, work hard, and be detail oriented in taking care of our guests and equipment.
You are expected to be responsible to do whatever is necessary to get your tour ready – including pulling out all the kayaks, paddles, PFDs, and safety gear. We seek applicants who show us they will go above and beyond, taking the initiative to do what needs to be done without being asked. No kayak guiding experience is required for this position, as all selected candidates will go through our comprehensive, in-house training, but you must be proficient in the sport. You will be spending multiple hours a day in the sun and in the water, observing weather, winds, and tides to ensure clients are staying safe and helping them with paddle technique and maneuvers. Explicit details regarding our tour procedures will be provided to you in your employment packet upon hiring.
NOTE: A “Lead Guide Position” for the April – Sept 2022 season is also available. Please inquire if you are interested.

•Comfortable and effective in public speaking

Pay rate: (approx $20 / hour, plus tips)

Please send resume and cover letter to tours@kayakalki.com
We look forward to hearing from you!

Vanessa, I have posted signs and also posted on internet format’s with no response. Our neighborhood to get into it you come to a “T” and have to turn right or left so everyone who comes in has to see my “who’s cat is this” sign. If I tried to put a collar/note on him he’d take off like a bat outta hell he butts his head on my hand when giving him food but that is about all I can do so I am sure he is homeless :>( we’ll just keep doing as we have been and hopefully he won’t get anymore injuries. The Vet he went to also said he was too feral to do anything with until they sedated him to neuter and they of course scanned for a chip and there wasn’t one.
Thank you for your concerns and ideas!
