What is the “common ground” solution to other illegal activities, such as drug trafficking, assault, vandalism, burglary? Laws are not suggestions, to be obeyed or not depending on some crackpot libertarian attitude, or – more likely – adolescents in adult bodies who just want to blow sh!t up. This argument has no more credibility than the evidence-free assertion that those who object to having their neighborhoods transformed into mini-war zones are in the “vocal minority”.

Grow up.

This is from someone who deals with encampments all the time. (I think it may be the person who took the photos in the link in my last comment.)

An excerpt:
“Someone here with two years of camps all around my workplace. I don’t believe this can be boiled down to pros and cons, but I can relate my experience. When the camps are running in the neighborhood, we have an immediate increase in visible trash all over the neighborhood. Not just in the camps themselves, but throughout the entire area. Some places are literally just dumping grounds; other places people camp for a week or so, trash the area, and leave the mess. There is an immediate uptick in graffiti, vandalism, and smash-n-grabs. Broken glass on the streets from car prowls. Bike theft. Needles on the ground. Human waste everywhere – sidewalks, parking strips, you name it….As I have a birds-eye view into one of the larger camps under 5, I can see what is going on there, day in and day out. What I see up there are white, mostly male, mostly young, people with severe drug addictions, preying on one another, vandalizing everything in site, shooting up, smoking meth, and building shanties.”

So, yes; am I reacting strongly to this? You bet I am. I’m terrified. I normally hate the slippery-slope argument, but Seattle is turning into one big slippery slope.

I found a backpack laying in the bushes on 37th between Genesee and Fauntleroy on my walk today. It contained another backpack, and an awesome new emergency kit. I wonder if it was stolen from someone’s car? The West Seattle Precinct now has it, you can pick it up there within the next 12 hours or call (206) 733-9800 with incident number 2017-340038, and they will direct you.

Right side is traditional width front to back but left side is over-sized; perfect for large pots and pans. $75. Comes with stainless steel sink basin rack for the oversized left side of the sink. Found by our business garbage at 45th/Wildwood was a black North Face backpack. Nothing of value still in it, but most likely belonged to a woman based on contents. Also included was a new wooden letter “J” from Marshall’s. If you know someone who might be missing this, we have it.

FREE to good home – ancient massage table
I have an older massage table made by Golden Ratio Woodworks, that is about 24 years old. I have used it in my practice in the past, but also have another, and this one needs to go. It is 31″wide, about 3 inches deep. It’s maroon in color, has a removable oval for pregnancy work lying on belly, but lacks the support netting. I have used a twin fitted sheet in the past as support for women who want to try being in a face down position. This table is not without flaws – there are minor dings and and discolorations on the covering, but once you have maybe a fleece cover on it and a fitted sheet, etc, you will never know it. There is no carrying case, but I do have a decent adjustable face cradle to go with it. You can contact me at mmfeelgood at gmail dot com if interested. I’m in the Admiral District, directly east of Safeway on 42nd Ave. SW.

Looks like this, only it’s maroon, and has an oval that is removable, at one end, for pregnant bellies. A massage fleece cover, or something similar would cover it, and never know it’s there. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Golden-Ratio-WoodWorks-Massage-Table-Portable-Folding/263038148977?_trksid=p2385738.c100677.m4598&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908110712%26meid%3D3365e98c230a40918045ba7401576e8d%26pid%3D100677%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D20%26sd%3D182535942841

This is not the same city it was a decade ago… A year ago… Maybe even a month ago… There may be a multitude of factors at play as to why we find ourselves in a place of such “haves & have-nots”. The one thing I notice is that as a city, as a nation, we seemed to have lost the desire or ability to work on necessary social skills. I’ll sit in a Starbucks and watch people pick up their electronically purchased drinks with out so much as a hello. Our employers shuttle us in isolated busses to work behind secured areas. We text across the room. Our “lifestyles” and workplace dictate with robotic efficiency that we have no time to be civil with each other. This the new normal we our teaching our youth.

I try to hang on to those “small things”. Please, excuse me, what do you think?, good morning, Thank You, and last but not least, actually listening. I’m not a cop, but I wear a uniform with a bulls-eye for the public’s ire at times. Trying to do the right thing. The safe thing. However inconvenient it may be.

Thank you for your service and your effort to reach out to us, the public.

Sincerely, 22blades

This disgusts me. Thank you for stopping & helping, but it’s kind of crazy when someone who simply helps push a car to the side of the road is a hero compared to the majority of people. I have witnessed too many similar incidents. I, myself, was bicycling to school in a hard rain in Salem, Oregon one day when I braked to stop for a line of traffic waiting for a train. My tire hit the curb and I crashed on the sidewalk. Every one of my very expensive books flew out of my backpack and scattered all over the road. I was bleeding, and I immediately burst into tears. I looked up to see at least six drivers watching me as they waited on their train less than ten feet away. Not one even rolled down its window to see if I was ok. I still hate Salem.

I have been a member of GHC now KP for 20 years. I go to Capitol Hill where everything is under one roof – lab, xray, pharmacy, specialists. I go in the very early morning or early afternoon to avoid traffic. There are many providers there, I have never felt that I was limited in any way. I can self refer to most specialists if I so desire. The Bartells option is great for immunizations or quick visits, you can put yourself in line by signing in on the website. I get my prescription refills by mail order, but you can use the Bartells also. I can email the healthcare team and the nurse or doctor writes back. I really like the “My KP” website where I can see my entire health record on line: immunizations, visit summaries, medications, test results, etc. The Capitol Hill urgent care is open 24 hours a day, I have used this many times on a weekend or after work. Very big on preventative healthcare, no complaints!

Oh, I had mentioned Premera being bad… Our pre-natal care at HCI Franciscan is costing us (after insurance, IN-NETWORK) over $2,500 for 5 visits and two blood panels because they don’t cover anything until you meet your co-pay. KP counts ALL “preventative” or “wellness” appointments like basic pre-natal & post-natal (even IUD placement post birth) as 100% “covered” so no money out of pocket and no surprise bill down the road either. It’s TRULY “covered”.

They aren’t the cheapest (or the most expensive) but the extra $50 a month I’ve been spending on them has already saved me close to $10K so I will definitely be staying with them for the foreseeable future.
