From artist Lezlie Jane:
It’s All About The Girls
In 2014 I installed Luna Girls on Alki, a 9 ft sculpture overlooking Elliott Bay and downtown Seattle. The sculpture draws from the history of the famous Luna Park on Alki 100 years ago. The Luna Girls have been enthusiastically embraced by the community and visitors to the area. They’ve been featured in multiple publications including the New York Times.
One reason the Luna Girls are so popular is they evoke joy and belonging. This is a Seattle anemoia, the feeling of nostalgia for a bygone era.
The ongoing affection for The Girls inspired me to bring them to life in a series of magical paintings.
Please join me at the opening event on September 6, 5-7 pm
as the colorful Luna Girls make their debut at Alki Arts
The show is open Sept 4-28 and will feature 6 Luna Girl paintings.
Alki Arts is located at 6030 California Ave SW

Potterings.comLooking for a creative way to unwind and make something beautiful (and functional!) with your hands? Join us this fall for our Wrapped & Patterned Mug Workshop, where you’ll learn how to build and decorate your custom ceramic mug from scratch — no pottery experience required!
Whether you prefer a cozy afternoon session or a relaxing Friday evening, we’ve got you covered.
What to Expect
This beginner-friendly pottery class focuses on slab-building techniques, where you’ll use rolled clay to shape and form a mug that’s uniquely yours. We’ll walk you through how to wrap, shape, and add a handle, then let you get creative with patterned textures, stamps, and carving tools to decorate the surface.
You’ll also get to select glaze options to give your mug a personalized, professional finish. After we fire and glaze your piece in the studio kiln, it’ll be food-safe, dishwasher-safe, and handmade by you.
What’s Included:
All clay, tools, materials, and glaze
Hands-on instruction from start to finish
Kiln firing of your finished mug
A warm, supportive studio environment
What to Bring:
