West Side Presbyterian Church is hosting an art exhibit titled There is Always a Light: Faces of Hope & Struggle by local artist Jeff Benesi in the foyer of the church on the following dates:

Tuesday, September 27, 5-8 pm
Wednesday, September 28, 9 am-1 pm
Thursday, September 29, 9 am- 1 pm

The following is a statement by the artist on his exhibit:

I began painting portraits of people of color after the murder of George Floyd. I found it to be a way for me to become more familiar with the circumstances and history of social and racial injustice in the United States. Hopefully it strikes a chord in others to become more aware, strive for new and honest relationships, and commit oneself to the fight against systematic social and racial injustice. Behind each face is a story that, helps me grow as a person and reminds me, in the words of Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman, “there is always light.” —Jeff Benesi
