Holiday update: West Seattle grocery stores’ Thanksgiving hours

Continuing our pre-Thanksgiving info roundups (yesterday, we published the restaurant list — and have made some additions/changes since then; thanks to everyone for collaborating!) – now, here’s the West Seattle grocery store list, with who’s open/who’s not on Thanksgiving:

METROPOLITAN MARKET , Admiral
Open till 2 pm Thanksgiving Day

PCC NATURAL MARKET, West Seattle (WSB sponsor)
Closed on Thanksgiving Day

QFC in The Junction
Open till 6 pm Thanksgiving Day

QFC in Westwood Village
Open till 6:30 pm

SAFEWAY (all 3 West Seattle locations)
Open 24 hours as usual

WEST SEATTLE THRIFTWAY
Open 5 am-6 pm on Thanksgiving

P.S. Amazon Fresh (WSB sponsor) is NOT making Thanksgiving Day deliveries. Still to come – the coffee map; all Thanksgiving info will be linked from the WSB West Seattle Holidays page too (as well as the growing-daily array of other activities between now and New Year’s!).

For the coffee list… Was in Uptown on Delridge yesterday and asked what time they are opening tomorrow – 6am. Not sure how long they’ll be open though…

FWIW, I think the Admiral Theater concession counter will be open on Thanksgiving Day.

Popcorn and Jujubes for Thanksgiving; what could be better. Thanks for the indirect reminder re: the theater’s status, tho – TR

Anybody know if Target or Rite Aid is open tomorrow?

FYI as of Wednesday evening, there is a partial power outage at Westwood Village, which does affect QFC. They were roping off the ice cream aisle when we were in at about 8 tonight!
We aren’t sure what caused it; heard a large crash and saw a flash – someone said they thought a car hit a power pole.

I went down after getting a text and drove all over the center. Couldn’t see any evidence of it except McDonald’s looked dark. Looked for City Light crews too. Nothing on their hotline when we called, though maybe that’s changed – TR
    .
(update – there’s now a partial message on their hotline – cuts off before they say how many customers are affected)

Sucks for all those employees forced to work thanksgiving day. At least the union folks are getting overtime for it.

All to serve the classist denizens of west seattle…

I agree with you Seven above. For a few years now, I have refused to buy a single product on major Holidays. No gas, no food, no beer, no smokes, nada. I plan ahead, or wait until after the Holiday.
I have decided that Holiday’s aren’t just for the wealthy, affluent, ‘professional’ set, and when everyone gets the day to spend with their families and friends and neighbors, we ALL benefit. Perhaps this is one of those areas where we as individuals can improve the quality of life for ourselves and the whole community.

Of course, essential services must continue regardless, however most everyone should have the Holiday to spend enjoying the community and what we can share with one another. Before I hear from folks who say that they need the extra work hours, if everyone shopped before the Holiday, or waited until afterwards, those days would be that much more busy, and the work hours could be earned on those days instead.
Won’t you join me in helping to repair just one small part of the giant tear that has ripped through our communites over the last couple of decades? Please simply curtail all purchasing on major Holidays; it’s as simple as that.

Sorry, comment time is over.
