Brown water in Admiral

Last week, we had two reports of brown water in Seaview; this morning, one in Admiral, near Hiawatha. No water-service troubles reported in the area, per this Seattle Public Utilities map, but sometimes this can be an early hint of one, so it should always be reported to SPU at 206-386-1800. (Another cause is SFD hydrant testing, though that would seem unlikely on a freezing morning.)

We had brown water (in the Alaska Junction) last night. Historically, it’s always been related to the hydrant thing. It’s fine today. Would it kill SPU to post a schedule of the tests they do so we can plan ahead?

SPU doesn’t do testing; SFD does, as time allows. Did they tell you that last night was the result of testing? Given water + freezing temps, I’d be surprised to hear of it this time of year …

Don’t the majority of hydrant testing and/or flushing operations take place in the spring, summer, and early fall when temperatures will be well above freezing?

Sorry, comment time is over.
