About the SW Jacobsen emergency response

If you saw the four-crew SFD response that headed down Jacobsen Road – a major route to and from Beach Drive – here’s what it was about: A natural-gas line break, blamed on “residential construction” workers. 45 minutes after the dispatch, the response has just wrapped up and the remaining three SFD crews are leaving.

    CALL 811 FOLKS!!

Costly for the homeowner – might be passed to the contractor (if they’re licensed)

    CALL BEFORE YOU DIG!!!!

If you have a contractor – make certain they’ve called.

Not sure about that in every case. Our gas line was not discoverable. There was no map of it and no tracer wire along it. The utility investigator told us that “contractors in the ’80s” who laid gas lines in WS were not providing either in some cases. Our gas meter was also placed dangerously close to a window.  Our line was replaced, but the meter is moved a bit yet still not far from the window.

Sorry, comment time is over.
