Thanks to Steven Rice for the photos as the littoral combat ship USS Gabrielle Giffords arrived in Elliott Bay today.
Vigor has a $55+ million contract to work on the Gabrielle Giffords, named for the former Arizona U.S. House member who survived an assassination attempt 14 years ago. She visited the ship at the Harbor Island shipyard when it was previously here for work four years ago.
That class of ship has been a maintenance nightmare and prone to self destructing propulsion gearboxes, just throwing more money away putting lipstick on a pig.
Will it leave Vigor with the same name, or will the feds rename it because she is too “woke?”
I am surprised to see a” functional” LCS. I thought we disposed of those things (unless the $55 million is helping it on its way to being decommissioned).
