Sounds of the night (update: and day)

From the “in case you wondered too” department:

-No, those weren’t gunshots in southwest West Seattle this past hour or so. Speeding cars’ exhaust.

-Tracker says the low, loud plane that just went by, same area, was a C-17A Globemaster, Air Force cargo jet from JBLM.

ADDED 11:42 AM SATURDAY: Another C-17A just flew over West Seattle, headed northeast.

That was really low and loud, on the south side of our house. Thank you for identifying it!My husband was already asleep when I came in to tell him about how close the plane sounded. I never saw it, as that side of this house’s windows are awning type that were open, but are up high and etched.

The sound of a C-17 is soothing and induces deep sleep 💤🌛

Interesting take. Same could be said for C-130s 😉.

The vehicle was going up and down 35th and revving up the engine as high as it would go, causing the backfiring – if that’s what it was.  Could it have been both?  I’ve never heard a car backfire dozens and dozens of times before.  I wonder if it’s the same vehicle that has been exhibiting the same behavior in south Arbor Heights lately, sans the backfiring?

I thought it was a racing motorcycle. We’ve heard this noise before in the Fauntleroy area, but sans the backfires. I’ve never heard so many backfire noises in rapid succession … It was SO loud!

It occurred in White Center by Taco Time, it sounded like a very loud car with back firing muffler. But then again I hear constant noise from very loud cars due to various neighbors who have cars that make loud noises I can hear with my windows closed along with the neighbors who have motorcycles with loud muffler.
