Evening whale-watching, not orcas this time

Earlier, Kersti Muul told us, a humpback whale was hanging out off Pier 70 on the north downtown waterfront. Now “a baleen whale” – possibly that humpback – is reported off Anchor/Luna Park in West Seattle. Let us know if you see it!

Here’s the humpback flopping around earlier this afternoon as seen from Duwamish Head. The first view is looking toward Elliott Bay Marina at 2:12pm. The second is looking NW toward Skiff Point, Bainbridge at 2:28pm. (This is my first attempt at uploading animated gifs here, so my apologies if they don’t work properly. They were made by manually aligning bursts of photos).

Working for me. I’ll admit I don’t even know how to do that. You’re EVERYWHERE!

Those gifs are so cool, Steve! Thanks for making and sharing. Especially appreciated by those of us who can’t get out to see them on our own so easily.

Sorry, comment time is over.
