WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: Playhouse theft

The report and photos were sent by Erinn:

This morning at 6:50 AM, a silver Dodge Challenger stole our boxed playhouse from our carport. Located just off Beach Drive and SW Edmunds Street. They had their license plate covered so unable to get that information.

Wondering if anyone else had issues this morning. Seemed they were driving through the neighborhood slowly.

We’ll add the police report # when we get it.

(added) P.S. One other note today – new SPD Chief Shon Barnes has announced a new crime-fighting strategy.

IMHO – look earlier in your video.  They may have driven by earlier before they covered their plate.

Same color challenger car almost ran into me as they ran stop sign heading  east from hill onto California at about 7:35 am. I nearly ran into him as I was headed south on California didn’t see the plate, saw the driver

One of many reasons why vehicles should be pulled over for missing or obscured plates for that violation alone.  There was supposed to be a crackdown on this at the beginning of the year, but in Seattle tradition that might mean an additional “tsk, tsk” to a limp finger wag.  The number of vehicles now without front plates is staggering.  Interestingly enough, luxury vehicles seem to be the primary culprits.

As I’ve now mentioned probably half a dozen times in response to commenters … they ARE. You can hear traffic calls (no plates, expired plates, etc.) on the scanner in every daypart.

But are the police really pulling over cars that have no plates? I see cars every day driving around without plates.

I see cars every day speeding without being pulled over.  That doesn’t mean it’s never enforced, that means I saw someone getting away with speeding.

Looks more like a 2006 – 2010 model Dodge Charger to me.

Ron is right, and it’s very important to get the model right when you’re calling these things in.

I agree that is a Dodge Charger having owned one. Unbelievable how bold people are these days.

Same car and people got into my car one block off Beach Dr and stole registration papers, parking pass, and sunglasses from the car.  Riffled through the glove compartment.

That’s a 2006-2008 Dodge Charger.  The Charger is the 4 door and the Challenger is the 2 door on these models.  And the tail lights indicate that it is a 2006-2008 model.  Here is a picture from Wikipedia that shows what looks exactly like the car in question.  Note the wheels- they are somewhat different than the standard 5 spoke wheels in that they have an extra hole in them and the “spokes” aren’t as deep. Silver Dodge Charger . And a shot of what the back looks like.  Note the lack of badging on the right of the trunk lid, unlike most other Chargers, indicating a base model. Charger Trunk. These details should make this car easier to spot

You are a special kind of dirt-bag loser if you steal from children. It was probably going to be a wonderful gift for someone.

People who don’t have plates cheat everyone by not paying tolls on 99, 520, 405, etc.

Erinn we have a playhouse we are ready to part with if you’d like it. Maybe you can reach out WSB if you are interested and we can connect?

Sorry, comment time is over.
