TRAFFIC ALERT: West Seattle low bridge trouble, again

1:33 PM: Thanks for the tips – multiple readers say the low bridge has been closed to traffic for at least 45 minutes. We’re checking with SDOT.

1:54 PM: SDOT has now issued an alert: “Technical issues on the Lower Spokane St Bridge blocking traffic in both directions. Use alternate routes.”

2:15 PM: Live camera shows traffic moving again both ways on the low bridge. We’re waiting to hear from SDOT regarding the source of the latest problems.

Truly backed up at 3 pm. Avoid the area.

It’s never fun when it’s backed up like that… but I really wish semis would quit running the light at the bottom of the bridge. I had a green light and almost got hit by one. And then he had the nerve to honk at me like I did something wrong

At least part of the problem seems to be that east side barrier gate again, the one that was badly damaged by a driver in a real hurry. As of 4:25 pm repair personnel were still working on it.

Major cluster at Chelan Cafe intersection, 15:30-ish.  Backed up semis taking Delridge exit off of westbound high bridge so they could loop back to eastbound low bridge made everything gridlocked at that intersection and impossible to get to southbound Delridge from street level.  Assumed it was related to the terminal “network issues” and had to take a significant detour.

Sorry, comment time is over.
