WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: New arrival’s scooter stolen

Maybe you’ll help find Cameron‘s scooter:

I just moved to West Seattle from Belltown about a week ago and am excited to be in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, within a few days of moving, my scooter was stolen.

Make and model: Genuine Hooligan 170cc
Color: black
Year: 2016
License: 2K8049

We’ll add the police report # when we get it. (Added: It’s 24-069706.)

How does one prevent this type of vehicle from being stolen? I’m guessing it’s just loaded onto a truck and taken away? (Just curious)

If it were mine I would use a kryptonite u lock and thick cable lock to secure it to a light post or bike structure every time I had to leave it outside. I would also invest in a steering column lock. I would also store it indoors as much as possible.

Could also hide an AirTag or similar in it somewhere.

I have had my scooter almost stolen 2x, one time my neighbor caught the guy and the second time I found it down the street. They will roll but with the steering column locked you pretty much have to carry it or drag it.It’s hard to enjoy when your worried about it being constantly stolen

Welcome to the hood, fellow rider! Sorry this happened to you. I have found it effective to put a cover over my rides and sound alarming disc locks on the tyres.

Welcome to West Seattle Cameron. Other than the *explicative deleted* thieves, West Seattle folks are pretty wonderful and caring lot. I’m sorry for your scooter theft and hope you had insurance. Thanks to the folks who have shared good advise that everyone can use to keep their possessions

I saw a scooter like this today walking up Columbia between 3rd and 4th. Closer to 4th, North side of the street tucked into a well below the sidewalk level.

Sorry, comment time is over.
