Avoid Fauntleroy Way northeast of Morgan Junction for a while – a three-vehicle collision is reported at Fauntleroy/Raymond.
Four car collision … unfortunately hit another parked car. We live at this corner and it’s so incredibly dangerous attempting to turn off sw raymond into fauntleroy. it’s impossible incoming to see as cars park right up the the curb.
Thanks, it was originally dispatched as four cars, then they revised it to three cars, I wasn’t able to get a photographer over. Checking with SFD but hope nobody was seriously hurt.
No serious injuries – one person taken into custody for alleged drunk driving. Tried to include a photo with my original post but seems to not be working!
I can confirm it was 4 cars total (mine was one of them), but only 3 that needed to be towed.
I’m surprised more wrecks don’t happen everyday on California Ave and Flauntlaroy. Folks don’t put their flashers on, drive too slow (hello slow traffic also causes wrecks too), pot holes, sunny, rainy, straight away roads, stopping in middle of street for absolutely no reason, on their cell phones, if I had $1000 for each time I am behind a vehicle that is stopped at a green light I’d be rich right now, distracted or dwui is as bad as driving tipsy or sleepy.
Slow traffic would only cause a wreck if someone else was driving too fast for conditions. While annoying if you arent prepared to stop or evade the actions of the vehicle you are following you are doing it wrong.
On California and Fauntleroy there are 1) schools, 2) parks, 3) businesses, 4) people biking, etc. People are looking for parking spots. People are looking for the business they are trying to find. People are letting pedestrians cross the street. The speed limit is also 25 and less in some spots where it’s a school zone. It is a rare day when I encounter anyone driving under 25 on Fauntleroy. No one is driving “too slow.”
I’ve experienced multiple instances of being passed in the center lane while driving 25-28mph on California and Fauntleroy. It’s getting out of hand.
I agree about distracted driving, BUT, slow? No. Speeding takes away reaction time of others. An example is joining Fauntleroy from 42nd behind Thriftway. Uncontrolled intersection colliding with 2 lanes merging into 1 just a few yards from a stoplight. Throw in a wave of late ferry traffic & it’s begging for a crash.
Fauntleroy and California can be nearly impossible to access via left turns. Between the cars parked close to intersections and the nearly constant stream of cars in either direction, you are pretty much limited to right turns or gunning it left to the center lane. We need traffic lights – not just pedestrian lights.
Sorry, comment time is over.
