WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: Stolen red pickup truck (update: found)

Ann Marie emailed about that stolen pickup truck, which belongs to her neighbor, a firefighter who discovered it missing when she went out to leave for work this morning. Ann adds, “It’s a stick shift, and quite distinctive as it’s older and louder when the engines is on. It has a WA firefighter plate, 09607.”

UPDATE: The car was found less than 10 blocks from where it was stolen.

Anyone know how many vehicles a day are stolen in Seattle and if West Seattle is more of a target?

we mentioned the citywide stat in our coverage of the Admiral Neighborhood Association a few night ago. More than 700 citywide so far this year. You can check the local dashboards for neighborhood-specific stats.

I also feel like West Seattle has more thefts, but I think it’s because WSB is very upfront with its crime reporting. If the Capital Hill blog posted as openly about crime, West Seattle wouldn’t feel as bad. All that said, I’m glad WSB provides honest info to help prevent crime and promote justice in our community.

I just need to express my admiration for that truck (perfect early 90s Toyota camping rig!) and my hope that it gets returned.

I’m estimating in west seattle at least a vehicle stolen  every week, maybe two by the posts that go on here

It’s definitely more than that- more than one a day. If you watch the police crime twitter you will see the reports of auto theft in WS. Since I’ve had two cars stollen in the last 6 months I’ve been following it closely.

Sorry, comment time is over.
