UPDATE: Crash on Spokane east of low bridge

4:02 PM: Police and SFD are at the scene of a crash on SW Spokane just east of the low bridge, and officers have told dispatch that Spokane is blocked both ways. One of the vehicles involved in the crash is a Metro bus. More info when we get it.

4:16 PM: An aid car’s been requested, which indicates at least one person will be taken to the hospital.

4:39 PM: Traffic is now getting by both ways again.

7:25 PM: We followed up with SFD – turns out SFD did not need to take anyone to the hospital after all. SFD checked out three people, spokesperson David Cuerpo says:

34-year-old female with no reported injuries.
41-year-old female with minor injuries and did not require transportation to a hospital.
12-year-old female with minor injuries and did not require transportation to a hospital.

What a terribly sad day for all those motorists who’ve attached permanent bike racks to their cars to intentionally obscure their license plates to avoid automated fines. It must be so sad to have your access to cheating and breaking the law cut off. I sure hope they can recover. “It’s OK if I do it, because I’m different and special.”

What are you talking about. The issue you stated is important but irrelevant to this accident.

Jort. That was the cause of this accident?? Did you give that information to SPD????

Rode by this accident on another bus, and the only bike rack I saw was the damaged one attached to the bus that was in the accident.. so what are you on about now?

This is a great idea, Jort. Thank you for finally providing a public service! 😄 (Tongue firmly in cheek)

I was riding my bike home from work and was right ahead of them when the accident happened. I heard a crunch and then the slamming of brakes. I turned and saw a white sedan spinning 360 in the intersection. A guy walking near me said the sedan was in the right lane and turned left right in front of the bus in the other lane. T-boned the driver side of the car. I’m glad everyone is ok.

Sorry, comment time is over.
