WEDNESDAY: The truck-theft trend continues. This report and photo are from Finlay:
This morning, sometime between 6:30 and 9:00, our black 1997 Nissan King Cab pickup was stolen from the street in front of our house. This happened in North Delridge, on 26th Ave SW between Delridge Playfield and the golf course. License # B73872W.
THURSDAY UPDATE: Finlay reports the truck was found blocks away.
Over the last year, I’ve seen suspicious tow trucks. I called one in but by the time SPD picked up, they were long, long gone: Completely flat black Dodge tow truck with no plates at all, slowly checking things out around Alki. Saw me watching so he took off. Another was a surplus AAA tow truck with the logo removed but the familiar graphics still on it. They should remove ALL the graphics before they go to auction.
No-logo tow truck (especially a nicer, newer one) is 99% owned by a self employed repo-man. Ive asked when a no-logo all black one parked on my street. Business must be good to afford one of those new rigs!
Unfortunately, I saw this car being broken into- I did call the police and gave them information.
I overheard some people on 26th Avenue say they have 15 GM keys. Everytime they show up to their RV on 26th, it is with a different car. I’ll keep an eye out for this one.
And yet another reason to clear out that encampment by Nucor and the gym. I guess the powers that be are too busy with their photo ops downtown.
