MYSTERY: Bicycle brought up from the deep?

Saw this fabulous salt-and-barnacle-encrusted bike on a walk yesterday near the water taxi dock. Would love to know the story behind it – I assume some divers brought it up and left it as urban art….

Looks like one of the lime bikes that was all over the place a couple years ago. Often thrown into ravines and the water. This one looks like it has a big battery pack on the back.

Isn’t that one of the Lime rental bikes.I found one in the creek at Schmitz Park last year.Moved it back to the street.

After eating at Marination last Thursday, my 16 year old and his cousin saw this bike submerged in the water by the dock and pulled it up.

Yup….I saw it a month ago submerged at the end of the pier. It was right under the fish cleaning trough. On these recent tides one could’ve gotten it.

Definitely an old lime bike, sadly I think people threw a lot of these in the water. I wonder if there is a way to recycle the batteries. Barnacles look cool though!

I see an unattended bike on the sidewalk. Instantly, I have internally claimed it, I feel entitled to have it for my own. But wait, it’s locked, apparently I would have to pay to use it?! But I WANTED IT! I will not stand for this injustice! I must act— If I can’t have this bike, nobody can. Into the ocean it goes..Thats my best guess on the logic.
