BIZNOTE: The Good Society sets opening date

After passing their health inspection today, The Good Society Brewery and Public House in The Admiral District has finalized an opening date: Valentine’s Day. That’s the word from co-proprietor Nick Berger, when we asked after reader tips and questions (thank you!). For the backstory, here’s our report from last July, when they explained their plan “to marry good beer with good deeds” at 2701 California SW.

I walked by earlier with my dog and noticed the signs were up. Figured I would check WSB for the inside scoop. I haven’t seen it anywhere. Will the brewery be dog friendly as well?

Food and beverage establishments in general are NOT supposed to allow pets inside.

Most breweries allow dogs. The only one I know of that doesn’t is Best of Hands.

I think the deciding factor, health department wise, is if the brewery serves it own food, vs allowing food to be brought it? I’ve never considered this before, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that was where they draw the line.
At any rate, excited to check this place out!

I think that’s definitely where the line is normally drawn. Somehow, though, some breweries allow dogs that also have a full kitchen.  Two Beers is one example. Not sure how they manage that.

Family friendly, but unfortunately no dogs due to the kitchen.
