VIDEO: Power trouble in West Seattle

1:56 AM: Lots of reports of flickers (or slightly longer), in various West Seattle areas. So far we haven’t heard o anyone whose power went out and stayed out, and there’s nothing on the map, but apparently there was a related transformer problem in the 26th/Juneau area.

ADDED 12:32 PM: Thanks to K for the security-camera views of the flashes some noted at the time:

Those cameras are in the Westwood/east Highland Park area.

Delridge SW,It was around 1:42 AM when the power went out twice. The power went back almost immediately.

There was a loud bang/explosion prior to the power briefly going out coming from 26th/Juneau.

We lost power here in Arbor Heights about 10 minutes ago for about 20 seconds after 2-3 very short heavy flickers. The wind gusts were severe about 5 minutes before the outage.

Power went out on 34th and orchard as well

We heard the transformer from 24th/Delridge blow in the night — sounded like something was exploding and our power went out for a minute then came back on.

I really hope the power doesn’t go out in Arbor Heights during the upcoming cold spell.  No transpo, nowhere to go.  It could get ugly.

I’m in Seaview. My power has been flickering an going out, over the last week. I called an electrician who is coming Monday.  So has the transformer been fixed?

It did something in High Point several clocks need reset and our hue lights came on unexpectedly.

That’s mostly why I published this – no “lasting” outage but I figured some might have awakened to flashing clocks (etc.) and wondered what happened.

Thx WS Blog! We were already asleep on 29th & Holden when it happened so exactly why I jumped on the blog immediately when I saw the blinking clocks.  Knew the blog would be on top of it.  Appreciate all you do!

We had the same in Shorewood. I woke up sometime after 2:30 and all of our smart bulbs had turned on, inside & out.

At 18th and Holly, at 1:42, there were a few bright flashes that I saw through our closed blinds. They had corresponding “pop” sounds and our power flickered each time. Happened between 3 and 5 times total.

I was lying awake and saw 2 flashes of light out my window that were so bright I thought it was lightening! But then no thunder followed…. so I wondered what was the cause. Thanks for the info WSB!
