ORCAS: Passing West Seattle again (AFTERNOON UPDATE)

FIRST REPORT, 9:20 AM: The whales are back! Southbound south of Fauntleroy, Kersti Muul tells WSB. We’ll update this post with any additional info throughout the day.

12:12 PM: Kersti says another “large pod” is headed this way, currently southbound, mid-channel, off Bainbridge Island, “spread out.”

Crazy stuff going on over on Vashon, they’re all spread out all over the place. People can’t even decide where to go look at them. I wish we had that problem over here, 🤣

Oh how cool! Wish I could be there for that. Thanks for sharing updates! Those pictures from yesterday are amazing. Seems like the Orcas are celebrating the rain this week :)

Indeed they are, via salmon. I think all the rain triggered a late run

Leaders are past the south end of lake Island now

      North or south bound?

  • Donna, The Whale Trail January 24, 2020 (5:16 pm)

Dan, they were all southbound today (so far!).  We watched two groups of orcas make a slow crossing on the far west side of the Sound this afternoon. Reporter Simone Del Rosario joined us at Me Kwa Mooks, check out her story on Q13 at 5:30. And keep your eyes on the Sound, the orcas will turn back north at some point!

Sorry, comment time is over.
