Has there been a helicopter hovering? I heard it quite a bit yesterday and it sounds like its back today, haven’t actually seen it though (I’m by Fairmount Park). Anyone know?

Can’t believe how much reducing 35th to 2 lanes in this 2 block stretch really impacts travel! At12:30 this afternoon this was a cluster – can’t imagine what it’s gonna be like during commutes . . . been following the project closely but was surprised when I went by to see the info sign @ 35th & Alaska says continues until November?!?!Everyone plan ahead!

Yes! At 3:20, heading NB, traffic was backed up past The Mount. The bridge getting back into WS at 4:20 was backed up almost to the Admiral exit. When I saw the sign about the closures until frickin’ November, I came to the WSB to find out what was what. Thing is, even after reading the whole document, I can’t figure out WHAT EXACTLY they are doing on that stretch of 35th that would require such a long closure. Of all the bad streets in WS, that part of 35th wasn’t one of them. I hope they get some seriously talented traffic engineers (if there is such a thing) to program the lights at Avalon and Fauntleroy to help ease the congestion because day 1 has been FUBAR.

I’ve just published an update. This has long been part of the project. A water main is being replaced and the street has to be rebuilt completely (see the water damage we covered a ways back).

Rode my bike through the area at 4:30 and had no additional time added to my regular commute, that includes having to ride the sidewalk up Avalon due to drivers being to inconsiderate to safely share the lane.

Sorry, comment time is over.
