UPDATE: Motorcycle rider hurt in Fauntleroy Way collision with driver

8:50 PM: Stay away from Fauntleroy south of The Junction/Triangle for a while. A motorcycle/car collision has sent the rider to Harborview, and Fauntleroy is closed between Dawson and Brandon. The rider’s injuries are not life-threatening – he was described as alert and conscious.

9:40 PM: Via scanner – police say the road is clear and open again.

I saw Medic 32 outbound being escorted by SPD and was wondering what that was about.

    Thank you for the report.

Did the car cut off the motorcycle? Sure looks like it.

No idea; vehicles don’t always end up in the same configuration in which they collided. Didn’t hear the initial scanner traffic because one of us was covering a meeting, the other was at a story interview (thanks to everybody who messaged about it!).

Hi, I saw everything what happened. The driver was 30 some year old woman and she had an uber sticker on her car. She did an illegal u turn.

My partner is the victim in this article. He will be in the ICU /hospital for few days to a week. Thank you all for your community concerns, really heart warming right now.

I am very glad to hear that he will be OK soon! My husband called 911 and we stayed till the end to give our statement.

Motorcycling has become a lot more difficult around here over the last few years. Best wishes to the rider.

I hope Rider is okay looks like car taking a illegal u-turn.  New condo dewelers are driving like idiots in West Seattle.  Crossing solid double yellow lines to turn where ever they decide, making u-turns across 5 lines in front of Trader Joe’s, turning on walks all ways in the junction.  Clueless new residents.  Move back to where you came from!

How do you know they are new residents? I see a lot of bad driving but it’s been all WA plates recently, like the people who continue to run the multi-arterial stop sign near our house and come within feet of broadsiding us (yes, person I had to beep at twice yesterday afternoon, this means you) … Anyway, I checked the file, and there is no citation on file related to this crash. As noted upthread, the final resting place of vehicles involved in collisions is not necessarily where they were when the impact happened.

Sillygoose, double yellow lines mean do not cross for passing. They have nothing to do with turns. And a U turn is legal in most places in Washington, so long as it doesn’t interfere with other traffic—even across double yellow lines.

Sorry, comment time is over.
