Motorcycle rider to hospital after West Seattle Junction collision

A man reported to be in his 60s is being taken to Harborview Medical Center after his motorcycle collided with a car in The Junction. The crash blocked the northbound lanes of California SW at SW Oregon but the scene is likely to be clear shortly, as a tow truck is there now (see image above from SDOT camera). So far the man’s injuries are not reported to be life-threatening.

Such a terrible intersection. I hope this guy heals quickly and without complications. I’ve almost been hit in that intersection twice, as a pedestrian.

I am increasingly concerned about that intersection as well. I have almost been struck as a pedestrian and driver. It’s a much busier intersection now than a few years ago.

TR, what’s the best way to get the city’s attention that this intersection should be improved/modernized?

Look twice for bikes.   The rider may be your relative, friend or neighbor.

SDoT cut the capacity of Alaska a few years back to install a bike lane.  The overflow traffic is now using Oregon.

A formal review of the California at Oregon intersection by SDoT needs to be conducted in 2018.

Sorry, comment time is over.
