ALKI BEACH 5K: The route along Alki and Harbor Avenues, east of 63rd SW, will close at about 8 am, which is also when last-minute registration and check-in starts by the Alki Bathhouse. The run/walk benefits Northwest Hope and Healing, which helps breast- and gynecologic-cancer patients deal with everyday expenses that don’t stop because of diagnosis and treatment. (61st SW/Alki SW)

GIVE THE GIFT OF LIFE: 10 am-4 pm at the Alki Masonic Center in The Junction, the Amethyst Chapter/Order of the Eastern Star is sponsoring a Bloodworks Northwest donation drive. Walk-in donors are welcome, but note that the drive will be closed for a break between noon and 1 pm. (40th SW/SW Edmunds)

ALKI LIGHTHOUSE TOURS: 1-4 pm, today’s your fourth-to-last chance to visit West Seattle’s historic lighthouse during the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary‘s summer tours – after the 3-day Labor Day weekend, it’s closed to the public until next year. (Alki SW/Beach Drive SW)

KOL HANESHAMAH’S ANNUAL PICNIC: 4-7 pm at Alki Beach Park, the West Seattle synagogue invites members and prospective members to its annual picnic: “KHN will provide veggie burgers and other grilled delights.
