Since we feature bird photos most days – today’s featured photo is the West Seattle Turkey, now in its second week of sightings (thanks to everyone who’s been sending word of where it’s been seen). On Wednesday, Tonya shared that photo by her daughter Araya, when the turkey turned up near the Alki promenade. That’ll be a busy spot today, turkey or no turkey, with temperatures headed into the 80s. Our official calendar highlights for tonight, meantime, are elsewhere on the peninsula:

Tonight at 7 pm and Saturday morning at 10 am, both at the West Seattle High School Theater. Tickets are $10 in advance, or at the door, $10 students/$15 adults; e-mail jhpietsch@yahoo.com for reservations. (3000 California SW)

METRO LEAGUE SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP: It’s West Seattle High School vs. Ballard HS at 7 pm tonight, Southwest Athletic Complex, for the league title! (2801 SW Thistle)

GARY BENSON, LIVE: Performing at C & P Coffee Company (WSB sponsor), 7-9 pm. (5612 California SW)

I know everyone is wondering this as I…where the heck did these turkey’s come from and I say plural because one bird can’t get around as much as these birds have been spotted!???

And WSB as you stated it is going to be busy down there at Alki today and I hope the bird doesn’t get hurt or it doesn’t hurt someone like an earlier blogger stated turkey’s can be “mean”.

    That bird is super popular!

Well, after the whole chicken thing took hold it would seem the natural progression would put Turkeys in line for the next phase of “urban farming”.

@Dick    I agree with you but it seems like they may have been to much for the “turkey-farmer” to handle so he/she just let them loose (or drove around one night and did drop offs) which is wrong they should had found someone who could handle them to take them in. :>(

This is the West Seattle Turkey, not the Jive Turkey!

Sorry, comment time is over.
