ON THE MOOOOVE: John’s Corner Deli cow finally un-tipped

cowback

For five months – since a windstorm last fall – the iconic cow atop John’s Corner Deli at 35th/Webster has been more like a side of beef. Until today! Thanks to Patricia for sending the photo, which came in before we could follow up a tip from West Seattle Autoworks (WSB sponsor) across the street. Patricia declares the sight, “Udderly marvelous!”

I am glad this situation finally reached the tipping point and is resolved.

I am honestly relieved this is fixed, I was so afraid they were going to put the cow out to pasture.

    I find this very moo-ving.

I hate to spoil the fun, but  “udderly” is a technically incorrect description for a male of the species (or in this case a former bull turned into a bullock – a castrated calf that has been encouraged to focus on eating rather than reproducing).  So cut the bull.

What a relief! It was so disturbing to see this poor fellow knocked over.

I’ve been half tempted to climb up there and upright the cow myself… Glad Bessie’s back on all 4’s

Looks like everybody is really milking the pun jokes out of this one.

That’s mooootastic!  And, I’m sure that’ll lift ALL the cow’s spirits!  I heard it was the contractor next door who came to the cow’s rescue, so props to Aldrich & Associates!  What a kind neighbor.

    They’re gonna have to

    Tie that mother down,

    Tie that mother down

Hey Gatewooder, if we want to really get technical it’s not male or female. It’s not a real animal and has never been castrated. It is a piece of fiberglass made to represent an animal and if the person that made it wanted to put on udders and horns (and wings for that matter) they could have.  Now I need to “steer” this response in another direction or my points will be “rendered” “moo-t.”. Hopefully any “bull-ets” fired at me will only be “grazing” my “hide.”

    Hey, diddle, diddle,
    The cat and the fiddle,
    The cow tried jumping over the the store sign;
    The wind gust laughed
    To see such sport,

And the crane had to rescue the poor bovine.

2 Much Whine,  do you have an actual beef with Gatewooder, or are you simply ribbing him/her?

In knowing  you personally a little, I would steak my reputation on the latter…

Good one Mike.  No beef, I’m too chicken.  Just having a little pun fun.

Sorry, comment time is over.
