West Seattle traffic alert: Crash in The Junction

Thanks to Doug B for this photo from 42nd/Alaska, with a damaged vehicle blocking the westbound side. Seattle Fire has since cleared the initial “motor vehicle accident” call, so apparently there were no serious injuries.

Any information on a gal who jumped from a vehicle right before the bus stop at California & Alaska St. yesterday 6/7/14 around 6:00 pm? We saw the aid car & firetruck when we walked out of Easystreet. Then at 7:00 pm we ran into friends who said they saw the whole thing unfold in front of them as they came up Alaska St. The Vehicle with the woman was driving erratically up Alaska St. at a high rate of speed, people crossing the street had to jump back to avoid being hit. When the car neared the junction the lady jumped out of the car right about at the bus stop screaming get away from me, people at the bus stop called 911. They did cuff the guy who had been driving and he was telling a different story than the woman.

Just did not see any coverage on this but I know a lot of people witnessed it.

Lola, unfortunately, we don’t have any info – you’re the fourth person who has asked about this but nobody texted or called when it was happening (206-293-6302) – so we didn’t know until it was too late to find anything out. It was a medic call on the SFD log but there are many of those each day and we don’t routinely chase them unless someone contacts us to say something seems newsworthy – the initial dispatches are always very simple and don’t often hint of something possibly criminal. I’ve checked the police map/tweets repeatedly and there’s not even an incident number, so all I can do now is ask the SPD media people on Monday. – TR
