SW Historical Society updates: Lou Whittaker recalls ‘a heck of a ride’; West Seattle Bridge 30th-anniversary party ahead

Thanks to Clay Eals from the Southwest Seattle Historical Society for sharing video excerpts from Lou Whittaker‘s West Seattle High School appearance sharing memories from “A Life in the Mountains” (and screening the biographical documentary of the same name). As you’ll hear him observe at one point (or maybe you were there to hear him in person), “It has been a heck of a ride.” And it’s not over yet – he is going strong at 85. Aww the bridge and I can celebrate 30 together this year! I have a super vague almost dream like memory of going over the bridge with my grandma as a child probably under 3 that came back to me when I crossed it for the first time since moving up here for college. I remember thinking, this is the place! This is where Grandma took me, it wasn’t a dream. And now I know for sure it was built. Cool stuff!
