If you were up early – and in The Junction – you might have wondered what brought four police cars to 42nd/Alaska. Nope, nothing bad …
Those are the four Southwest Precinct officers who, along with one other citizen, answered the West Seattle Junction Association‘s call to help their all-around guy Don Smathers (center) with the task of placing flags along the heart of The Junction for the holiday. We followed along – photos ahead:
First, it was into the storage area (near California/Alaska’s Walk-All-Ways):
From there, a little rearranging in the alley west of Junction Plaza Park:
And from there, off to the east side of California, headed north:
From Oregon, back south, along the west side of California:
From the Southwest Precinct, your flag assistants were G.L. Drury, Joel Nark, Sgt. Neil Larkin, Mike Hope (all on duty till noon today, with other holiday duties including the Kids’ Parade). Also joining in – Dallas Johnson. The Junction is still interested in developing a regular corps of helpers for future holidays – contact info is at wsjunction.org.
