King County Sheriff’s Office plans White Center surveillance cams

From partner site White Center Now: The King County Sheriff’s Office will soon install two video-surveillance cameras in WC. Deputy BJ Myers, who announced them at last night’s North Highline Unincorporated Area Council meeting, says he believes they’ll be the first “overt” cameras KCSO has installed – that means they’re not secret; their presence will be obvious, and that’s part of the point. As soon as a few weeks from now, they’ll be up at 98th/16th and 15th/Roxbury. Here’s the full story, on WCN.

    This should be interesting.
I wonder if they will start compiling a roster of ‘regulars’,
people who hang out/catch a bus daily.
If something happens which requires action, will
it be only to track suspects, or to dispute some of the
“I didn’t see anything” that is so prevalent?
What blocks do they anticipate may receive activity that does not want to be viewed?
Do they have the resources to maintain and use these cameras?
    Interesting…

They should have done tha 20 years ago. Put them right on 15hth and Roxbury ontop of the Texaco gas station. They won’t miss a thing from that spot.

    Old Timer,

Most all of the Deputies, and especially Transit Patrol Deputies, know the regulars very very well. So, yes, I think it might be plenty interesting.

I just saw the KCSO Transit Patrol training on bikes at Alki today, coincidentally. Transit patrols the bus stops among other things. Grabbed a shot and some video – about 15+/- deputies on a singlw line of bikes is kind of a traffic stopper. ;)
